As announced earlier, the International Handball Federation invited all of its member federations to hand in applications for the 2011 World Championships some time ago.
The awarding of the 2011 Men's World Championships is subject to a decision of the IHF Council, which will be taken at their next meeting from 17 to 19 October in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
So far, the IHF has registered the intention of the following member countries to host the 2011 Men's World Championship: Denmark, Hungary, Spain and Sweden.
The Czech Republic, which had originally intended to apply for the Men's World Championship, has meanwhile withdrawn its application.
Applicants will be given the opportunity to present their bid to the IHF Council Members. The final decisions will be taken by ballot on the same occasion.
